Industrial Drying Oven Explosion Protection
Summary: Flammable liquid vapors provide an explosion hazard as they evolve in drying ovens. Codes and standards are unclear regarding how to provide adequate equipment and facility protection. Explosion hazard and venting basics are presented in addition to detailed protection recommendations.
Speaker Bio: Mark is the President of Mannex Engineering in Sammamish WA, with over 40 years of experience in fire protection engineering. After beginning his fire protection career with NASA on the Space Shuttle program, he was a consulting engineer for twelve years before joining FM Global. While at FM, Mark served as the Chief Engineer of the Northwest US for 17 years. Mark is a member of SFPE and is a principal member of the NFPA 409 Aircraft Hangar committee. Mark holds separate PE designations in both fire protection and mechanical disciplines.
